The Omega Pharma-QuickStep took its third stage victory at the Volta ao Algarve 2014 when former World Champion Mark Cavendish outsprinted the peloton in stage five. Meanwhile, teammate Michal Kwiatkowski took the overall race victory.

Tonight the Omega Pharma-Quick-Step cycling team presented its 2014 roster to media and fans at a major track-based team presentation, which took place in the Eddy Merckx Velodrome in Ghent.

The 2013 Tour of Denmark (Post Danmark Rundt) concluded earlier today with stage 6 - a 165 kilometer ride from Høng to Frederiksberg in Copenhagen. The stage was won by Mark Cavendish of Omega Pharma-QuickStep and Team Belkin's Wilco Kelderman took the overall race victory.

Stage 13 was supposed to be an uneventful transition stage that the sprinters would decide. The cycling gods, however, decreed otherwise. Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) took a sprint from Peter Sagan (Cannondale) and Bauke Mollema (Belkin) to win the flat, 173-km run from Tours to Saint-Amand-Montrond in 3:40:08, but Cavendish’s victory paled in importance next to the elimination of Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) as a GC threat and the rise of Mollema and Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank-Tinkoff). Chris Froome (Sky) remains the maillot jaune, but his lead has been reduced and he and his team have been shown to be vulnerable.

Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) has opened his account at this year’s Tour de France. The Manx missile took a crash-marred bunch sprint to win Stage 5 of the 2013 Tour, a flat, 228. 5-km run from Cagnes-sur-Mer to Marseille in 5:31:51. Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky) took second, and Peter Sagan (Cannondale) finished third. Simon Gerrans (Orica-GreenEdge) remains the maillot jaune.

Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) has won his fifth stage of the 2013 Giro d'Italia. Cavendish took a bunch sprint to win the 21st and last stage, a flat, 197-km run from Riese Pio X to Brescia, in 5:30:09.
