Allan Davis Targets 2011 Milan-San Remo
A brief interview with Allan Davis before this year's Milano-San Remo classic.
Allan Davis will lead Team Astana in the 2011 Milan-San Remo classic and he can't wait for the race to begin.
When asked to describe his feelings about Milan-San Remo, Davis told Roadcycling.com and Roadcycling.mobi "Milano-San Remo is really special to me. It's a race I targeted (even) before I turned professional. It suits my characteristics as a rider. I already came close to victory (2nd in 2007 and 4th in 2009), so of course I'm looking to give the best this Saturday."
The Australian Team Astana captain took part in the recent 2011 Tirreno-Adriatico race. "I recovered well from Tirreno-Adriatico. We trained really hard this winter and I can feel the benefits. Today I felt well on the bike. We went for a 100 kilometer training ride. Tomorrow we'll have an easy ride and I'll be ready for Milan-San Remo!"
When asked who will be his main challengers for the race victory when the peloton reaches San Remo, Davis told Roadcycling.com and Roadcycling.mobi "Of course, there will be as always a group of about ten favourites, but I think that Thor Hushovd (Team Garmin-Cervelo) might be the most dangerous one of them all."
Concerning the Astana team roster for the race, Davis is satisfied with the teammates chosen for the race. "I think we have a strong team, with a lot of cards to play. With strong riders like Simon Clarke and Tomas Vaitkus beside me, we'll have different options."
