Following an independent audit on Pro Team Astana and its internal anti-doping structures, the UCI recommends removal of team from its WorldTour. The UCI WorldTour features 28 events including the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a Espana. The WorldTour event performances also help produce an annual ranking system.

Earlier today UCI President Brian Cookson issued a statement to the press announcing the names of the three persons, which have been chosen as members of what the UCI says is an independent commission, which will examine allegations of illicit activities and wrongdoing within the UCI under former presidents Pat McQuaid and Hein Verbruggen.
