A day before he was scheduled to give sworn testimony about his use of performance-enhancing drugs, Lance Armstrong earlier today reached a settlement with an insurance company that was seeking $3 million in performance bonuses it paid him from 1999 to 2001.

The Justice Department joined a lawsuit Friday against disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong that alleges the former seven-time Tour de France champion concealed his use of performance-enhancing drugs and defrauded his longtime sponsor, the U.S. Postal Service.

A British newspaper is suing Lance Armstrong for more than US$1.5 million over the cyclist's successful libel action regarding doping allegations.
