Kittel Wins Stage 10 of Tour de France

Marcel Kittel (Argos-Shimano) has won his second stage of this year’s Tour de France. The German took a crash-marred bunch sprint to win Stage 10, a flat, 197-km run from Saint-Gildas-des-Bois to Saint-Malo, in 4:53:25. German national champion Andre Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) finished second, and Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) finished third. Chris Froome (Sky) remains the yellow jersey.

Martin Wins Stage 9 of Tour de France

Daniel Martin (Garmin-Sharp) has won Stage 9 of the Tour de France 2013. Martin took a two-up sprint from Jakob Fuglsang (Astana) to win the mountainous, 168.5-km ride from Saint Girons to Bagneres-de-Bigorre in 4:43:03. Michal Kwiatkowski (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) towed home the maillot jaune group at 0:20, and Chris Froome (Sky) remains the maillot jaune.

Froome Wins Stage 8 of Tour de France, Takes Yellow Jersey

Sky has blown open the Tour de France 2013. Two of its riders, Chris Froome and Richie Porte, have taken the first two positions in Stage 8, the first high mountain stage of this year’s Tour. Froome won the 195-km ride from Castres to Ax 3 Domaines in 5:03:18. Porte finished second at 0:51, and Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) finished third at 1:08. Froome is the new maillot jaune.

Before today, Peter Sagan (Cannondale) had finished second in three stages of this year’s Tour de France. Today, however, the Slovak broke through. Sagan took a bunch sprint to win Stage 7, a hilly, 205.5-km ride from Montpellier to Albi, in 4:54:12. John Degenkolb (Argos-Shimano) finished second, and Daniele Bennati (Saxo Bank-Tinkoff) took third. Daryl Impey (Orica-GreenEdge) remains the maillot jaune.

Greipel Wins Stage 6; Impey First African to Wear Yellow Jersey

For the second consecutive day, a Belgian squad has won a stage of the Tour de France 2013. Yesterday, Mark Cavendish did the honors for Omega Pharma-Quick Step, and today, Andre Greipel won the day for Lotto-Belisol. Greipel took a bunch sprint to win Stage 6, a flat, 176.5-km run from Aix-en-Provence to Montpellier, in 3:59:02. Peter Sagan (Cannondale) outsprinted Marcel Kittel (Argos-Shimano) for second.
