Riblon Takes First Stage by Frenchman in 2013 Tour de France

Christophe Riblon (Ag2r-La Mondiale) has given France its first stage win of this year’s Tour de France, and he has taken his second career Tour stage win. The Ag2r-La Mondiale man surged past Tejay van Garderen (BMC) in the last two km to win Stage 18, a mountainous, 168.5-km ride from Gap to Alpe d’Huez, in 4:51:32. Van Garderen finished second at 0:59, and Moreno Moser (Cannondale) took third at 1:27. Chris Froome (Sky) remains the maillot jaune.

Froome Takes 2013 Tour de France's Last Time Trial

Chris Froome (Sky) has won Stage 17 of the Tour de France 2013. The Briton eked out a victory on the 32-km mountain time trial course from Embrun to Chorges, pipping Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank-Tinkoff) to win in 51:33. Contador was 0:09 slower than Froome, and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) took third at 0:10. Froome slightly extended his overall lead.

Rui Costa (Movistar) has won Stage 16 of the Tour de France. The winner of the last two Tours de Suisse attacked a 26-man break on the day’s last climb and descended to the finish line to win the rugged, 168-km ride from Vaison-la-Romaine to Gap in 3:52:45. Chris Froome (Sky) has won on Mont Ventoux. The Sky man surged away from Nairo Quintana (Movistar) with 1.2 km left to win Stage 15, a 242-km ride from Givors to Mont Ventoux, in 5:48:45. Quintana finished second at 0:29, and Mikel Nieve (Euskaltel-Euskadi) finished third at 1:29. Froome has extended his overall lead in the Tour de France.
