Earlier today it was announced that 2011 Paris-Roubaix winner Johan Van Summeren has extended his contract with Slipstream Sports, LLC - the company behind Team Garmin-Cervelo - through 2014.
"Johan has always been one of the best riders in the world. A rider who has worked tirelessly and most often for others, throughout his career," Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream Sports and Director of Team Garmin-Cervélo commented and continued "That's what made victory at Paris-Roubaix so special. We are thrilled that he will continue to ride with Garmin-Cervélo. He's one of the best riders we could ask for. On the cobbles and off."
"I'm very happy Jonathan Vaughters offered me a new contract," Van Summeren said and added "For me this has been an easy decision because I really wanted to stay with Garmin-Cervélo. I love it here. With the atmosphere and the way the team is working, I just like coming to the races."
Van Summeren first signed with Slipstream Sports, LLC in 2010 and rode the Tour de France with the Garmin squad the same year. Prior to his 2011 Paris-Roubaix victory Van Summeren had twice finished in the top 10 in the same race (2008 and 2009).
