Team Skil-Shimano's Simon Geschke of Germany won a massive sprint to claim the win in stage 2 of the 2011 Criterium International stage race on the French island Corsica earlier today.
Team Skil-Shimano's Simon Geschke of Germany won a massive sprint to claim the win in stage 2 of the 2011 Criterium International stage race on the French island Corsica earlier today.
Luxembourg rider Frank Schleck kept the race leader's jersey ahead of the final stage, a short 7-kilometer time trial taking place later today.
The 25-year-old Geschke clocked a winning time of 1 hour, 43 minutes, 10 seconds over the 75-kilometer course around Porto Vecchio to claim his first professional win ahead of Murilo Antoniobil Fischer of Castelli-sponsored Team Garmin-Cervelo and Laurent Mangel of Team Saur.
Schleck leads Team Movistar's Vasil Kiryienka (Belarus) by 20 seconds in the overall standings. Estonian rider Rein Taaramae from French Team Cofidis is third, 28 seconds back. Kiryienka's teammate David Lopez Garcia is fourth, 1 minute and 8 seconds behind race leader Schleck.
