Italian Davide Malacarne completed a spectacular 165 kilometer breakaway with a solo win in Stage 5 of the Tour of Catalunya 2010 on Friday.

The Quick Step rider pulled clear of a four-man breakaway group of four on the stage's final climb for the first professional win of his career.

Second was German Andreas Klöden (Team RadioShack) and third was Spaniard Luis Leon Sanchez (Team Caisse d'Epargne).

Katusha's Joaquim Rodriguez continues to hold the overall lead for a third successive day.

The 2010 Tour of Catalunya finishes on Sunday in Montmelo.
