UAE Team Emirates has announced its line-up for Giro d’Italia 2024 – the first Grand Tour of the season. The 2024 Giro d’Italia will commence in Turin on May 4 and conclude in Rome on May 26. The race is 3345.6 kilometers long.

The team roster is headed by Tadej Pogacar, who will compete in his first Giro d’Italia. Pogacar’s participation in a Giro is long anticipated and the Slovenian rider is also the main favorite to take the overall race victory in this year’s Giro.

“My preparation for the 2024 Giro has progressed really well,” Pogacar told Roadcycling.com. “I haven’t raced so much so far this season. After just ten days of competition this season, I’m feeling fresh and ready to take on my first Giro.

“The Giro d’Italia is a race I’ve dreamed of doing for a long time and it feels like the time is now right to go for it.”

“My aim is clearly to aim for the general classification, and we have a very strong team in general. We can’t wait to get started,” Pogacar explained.

UAE Team Emirates has also chosen to include a sprinter in its team roster. Colombian Sebastian Molano will fight for stage victories in the sprint stages and will also support Pogacar when needed.

The team line-up features Denmark’s Mikkel Bjerg, who will offer valuable support for Pogacar in the mountain stages. The team roster also includes Rafal Majka, Felix Grossschartner, Vegard Stake Laengen, Domen Novak, and Rui Oliveira.
