Alberto Contador Racing in Spain on Eve of CAS Verdict in Doping Case

Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador of Team Saxo Bank is racing in Mallorca on the eve of the long-awaited verdict on his doping case by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador of Team Saxo Bank is racing in Mallorca on the eve of the long-awaited verdict on his doping case by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The three-time Tour de France champion is participating in Sunday's opening race of the 2012 Mallorca Challenge before returning to Madrid to await the court's ruling set to be released on Monday if not postponed even further.

Contador is potentially facing a two-year ban for testing positive in the 2010 Tour for clenbuterol, a result that he says came from contaminated beef he ate during the race.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) challenged a Spanish cycling federation tribunal decision to exonerate Contador.
