An official in the French prosecutor's office says the Astana team, which won the 2009 Tour de France, is the target of a preliminary investigation after the discovery of suspicious syringes during the race.
Astana's Alberto Contador won the Tour and teammate Lance Armstrong, in his return from retirement, finished third.
The Le Monde newspaper Web site reported Wednesday a police report given to prosecutors says that syringes belonging to Astana were among items recovered.
An official told The Associated Press there was "no progress" in the probe but confirmed that Astana was targeted. He asked to remain anonymous because he is not authorized to speak publicly.
The prosecutor's office said in October no specific team was targeted.
