His remarkable palmarès show Rigoberto Uran has twice finished second in the general classification of the Giro d'Italia, won silver in the 2012 Olympic Road Race, secured stage victories in the 2013 and 2014 Giro d'Italia, and won the best young rider classification in the 2012 Giro.

 

Uran is defending Columbian National Time Trial Champion and finished third overall in the 2015 Tirreno-Adriatico.

 

Commenting on the contract with Uran, Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream Sports, told Roadcycling.com "Rigoberto is a leader not just for his excellent skills on the road, but for his charisma. He brings style and passion to racing and he will be a huge asset to our team. Rigo has one more step to climb in the Giro and I will put my heart into helping make that happen. We are very excited to add him to our 2016 line up."

 

The Cannondale-Garmin team is in serious need of reinforcement after a very lackluster 2015 season and recent announcements of both Daniel Martin and Ryder Hesjedal leaving the American team. Uran is currently riding for Team Etixx-Quick-Step.
