Gesink Undergoes Successful Surgery
Team Belkin-Linksys earlier today announced that its rider Robert Gesink has undergone successful surgery following an extensive cardiologic examination regarding his cardiac arrhythmia.
The cause of the problem was successfully identified and has been treated directly, the team said in a statement.
The team reported Gesink will resume training following a period of rest closely monitored by the team's medical staff and coaches. A date for Gesink's return to professional racing has not been set yet.
"I am very pleased to put these insecure times behind me," Gesink told RoadCycling.com. "I will start my recovery with full confidence and hope to know more about my schedule soon."
Gesink is not expected to participate in this year's Tour de France.
