Team BMC Racing's Brent Bookwalter crashed in today's stage 7 of the 2011 Tour of Catalunya.
Bookwalter crashed on rain-slickened roads 15 kilometers into the 124 km stage.
Unfortunately the crash was so dramatic that Bookwalter suffered a broken left collarbone and had to exit the race.
"Speeds were high, big groups were attacking and there were a lot of tired guys," Bookwalter told Roadcycling.com and Roadcycling.mobi.
Bookwalter added "I'm not sure how long I'll be out, but it's never good."
BMC Racing Team doctor Max Testa says Bookwalter will undergo surgery in the coming days.
"I'm looking forward to a fast recovery and getting back with the team," Bookwalter concluded.
The whole team here at Roadcycling.com wishes Brent a speedy recovery and successful surgery.
