Julian Dean Diary
Hi all,
Carole here.
As most of you already know Julz has kept to his tradition and sustained a serious injury just when he was starting to fly!
He came down in a mass crash yesterday in the 1st of 3 finishing 6km circuits in stage 6 of the Giro. Although the fall itself wasn't so bad, the impact of other riders crashing into him was severe enough to badly break his right humerus, which he said, "isn't very funny!"
The break is in the ball of the joint and is severely displaced so he has to have an operation on Monday to have a plate inserted. At this stage, it looks as though he'll be off the bike longer than what he was with his 2 broken elbows last year, making the 2005 Tour de France uncertain...
We'll know more after his op so will fill you in then...
Thanks so much for all your notes of support. As always they have a HUGE impact on his morale...
