Vine Crowned Australian National Time Trial Champion
Vine delivered an impressive performance on the 37.5 kilometer course near Mount Helen. Putting in an average speed of 48.2 km/h and beat Australian time trial specialist Luke Durbridge (Team Jayco-AlUla) by three seconds. Kelland O’Brien finished 26 seconds later.
“I’m super happy with this win. Time trialing is always something I thought I could improve on, but I just hadn’t been able to go fast in a good position on the bike since turning professional,” a proud Vine told Roadcycling.com.
We’ve worked a lot with the team to get me in the right position, and it’s definitely working for me so far. To win the title here with the great support of my wife, friends and family is just an amazing way to start the season. ”
Vine’s victory is encouraging for his team ahead of the start of the 2023 Tour Down Under that begins on January 17.
