Nils Politt Signs with UAE Team Emirates
UAE Team Emirates today announced it has signed Nils Politt on a three-year contract. 29-year-old Politt currently competes for Team Bora-Hansgrohe – a German outfit he joined before the start of the 2021 season.
Politt is a skilled rouleur and was recently active in several breakaways during this year’s Tour de France hoping to renew the joy he experienced when he took a stage victory in the 2021 Tour. He is currently German national time trial champion and took this title after being German national road cycling champion in 2022.
Commenting on signing Politt, UAE Team Emirates Director and CEO Mauro Gianetti told Roadcycling.com “We are very pleased to welcome Nils Politt into the team. Nils has a proven pedigree of being a very strong rider and will bolster our classics team as well as our stage racing squad. We hope to be working together for many years to come.”
German Politt himself is thrilled to be joining UAE Team Emirates in support of Tadej Pogacar and to pursue his own goals. “I’m excited to be riding with UAE Team Emirates in the coming years. In my opinion it’s one of the biggest teams in the world and by joining them I believe I’m taking an additional step forward in my career. I hope we’ll have a lot of success together and achieve some good results, so I’m really looking forward to the next three years.”
Politt won the 2021 Deutschland Tour and finished second in the 2019 Paris-Roubaix. He was runner-up finisher in Paris-Nice stages in 2018 and 2019. Politt has previously ridden for Team Katusha-Alpecin, Israel Startup Nation, and Team Stölting.
Politt will join UAE Team Emirates from the 2024 season.
