Dave's Dogmatic Dribbles
2008 Tour de France - Stage 14
Love is all around within Team Columbia. Cavendish has won four stages. His team loves him and he loves his team. Alas, all love affairs must come to an end and we may soon see Cavendishlini leave the Tour.
Speaking of lost love, Barloworld has announced they are done. They will cease their sponsorship when the Tour is over. This of course is due to teammember Nevado testing positive after the fourth stage. I don’t believe punishing everyone for one person’s mistake is the best approach. There has been too much overreaction concerning doping in cycling.
In the race, a break of four racers has been established. They aren’t getting far with an advantage of nearly three minutes. Gutierrez attacks form the lead group but he’s got 28km to go and will never succeed.
There are multiple attacks on the last climb. Those pooping out the back include Cavendish. There’s even pressure on the front for Evans. You remember him, the guy in the lead. Hey look, there goes Chavanel off the front. This last 10km is murder.
Once again the tension builds for the sprinters. Zabel and Dean are there. It seems like this sprint is taking forever to complete. Once it does, its Freire who crosses the line first.
I’m so glad I’m a spectator. Tomorrow is gonna hurt big time. I think CSC is the better team so let’s see if Schleck is the better climber.
Super Dave (Enjoy my dribbles, hate them? Suggestions? Feedback is welcomed!)
