Schröder, Knaven, Förster Extend with Team Milram
The German ProTour team Milram has extended its current contract with Björn Schröder for an additional year. He signed the one-year contract at the team's headquarters in Dortmund, Germany, and will wear the blue and white Milram jersey in 2010 for the fifth year in a row. Schröder and Christian Knees are the only two riders who have been with the team since the team was launched.
"I am looking forward to another year with Team Milram and will pay back the trust they have shown in me with a good performance," Björn Schröder said after signing the contract extension. "My season came to an abrupt end with a shoulder injury after a crash in the Vuelta a Espana. After a short break I will start preparing myself for the coming season."
Schröder was part of the mass crash near the finish of the fourth stage of the 2009 Vuelta in Lüttich, Belgium. The 28-year-old kept fighting and managed to stay in the race until stage 13, but then had to exit the Vuelta. An examination in a Berlin hospital last week put an end to his season, after it showed a cracked bone and a torm rotater cuff.
In addition to Schröder, Team Milram has also extended its contracts with Dominik Roels, Servais Knaven and Robert Förster for an additional year. The team has also signed Luke Roberts, Australian track champion from the 2004 Olympics, for the coming season.
