British rider Mark Cavendish says he is "very disappointed" that his cycling team HTC-Highroad will fold at the end of the season.
British rider Mark Cavendish says he is "very disappointed" that his cycling team HTC-Highroad will fold at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old Cavendish won the green jersey at this year's Tour de France as the best sprinter. He has 20 total stage wins.
Cavendish said that "I am hugely indebted and incredibly grateful to my teammates and all the staff for their support over the last five years" and "immensely proud of what we have achieved together."
Cavendish says he has made a decision on a team for next season, adding he "will be in a position to discuss my intentions once everything has been finalized."
Team HTC-Highroad owner Bob Stapleton announced Thursday that an unsuccessful effort to secure a long-term sponsor.
