Second-placed Colombian Mauricio Soler is out of the Tour of Switzerland 2011 after he was injured in a crash earlier in today's stage.
The Movistar rider crashed after after about 40 kilometer of the 157 kilometer sixth stage from Tobel-Tagerschen in Switzerland, said the official race website (www.tds.ch) without specifying the extent of Soler's injuries.
The crash is said to have implicated at least one race spectator.
"We only know he was taken to hospital by helicopter, with one of our team directors with him, but there's no medical report yet," Movistar spokesman David Garcia said.
Soler won Sunday's mountainous stage two and led the race for one day before Damiano Cunego of Italy took over as pacesetter.
Team Movistar tragically lost team member and Tour de France outsider Xavier Tondo in a deadly home accident last month.
