The Hydrapak Gel Bot bottle offers the bike rider the ability to drink water and gel from the same bottle, hence the name Gel Bot.
I rode with the Hydrapak Gel Bot a number of times and found the dual features to be useful. To use the gel feature you need to have the drink nozzle in the closed position. Squeezing the bottle forces the gel out of the internal chamber thru the drink nozzle (you have a suck a little as well). To drink water, you have the nozzle pulled out from the bottle. When you squeeze the bottle in the water position you do get a nice rush of water into your mouth.
I liked the Gel Bot drink nozzle. It was spongy with a large surface area so it was easy to pull out and push in with your fingers or teeth. Make sure the internal gel chamber is pushed all the way in. It can work itself out because of road chatter and fall into your water (as I found out). The gel and water mixture looked like a scene from a lava lamp. I thought the bottle wasn't as soft as others and was harder to squeeze.
The Hydrapak Gel Bot water bottle offers a unique feature not found in other bottles. I like their ingenuity and hope they continue to develop new products. For more information about the Hydrapak Gel Bot or other Hydrapak products visit www.hydrapak.com.
