Chris Horner Fractures Collarbone
Unable to start for Team Astana in 2008 Tour of Spain.
Team Astana's Chris Horner fractured his left collar bone in a crash in the final sprint of the 2nd stage of the Tour of Elk Grove in IL, USA on August 2. Chris Horner was able to finish the stage (as 34th) but was later transported to a nearby hospital where the break was diagnosed.
Chris Horner (36), who earlier finished second in the time trial, was preparing for the 2008 Tour of Spain (La Vuelta d’España). He was planning to return to Europe this week to participate in the Tour de l’Ain and the Tour de Limousin prior to starting in his third Tour of Spain. With less than four weeks to go till the start of the 2008 Vuelta, it will be impossible for him to start in the grand tour.
Team Astana's 2008 Tour of Spain line-up will be announced in the next few weeks.
