Tour de Georgia Canceled for Second Straight Year

The 2010 Tour de Georgia, scheduled to start in April, has been called off due to a lack of a title sponsor. This is the second consecutive year the race has been canceled, but Tom Saddlemire, board member of the Tour de Georgia Foundation, says organizers remain committed to reviving the race "as soon as possible."

The Tour de Georgia has been called off for the second consecutive year.

The 2009 race was shelved due to financial struggles.

The seven-day race has been billed as North America's premier professional cycling event, but there was no title sponsor the last two years of the event.

Tom Saddlemire, board member of the Tour de Georgia Foundation, says organizers remain committed to reviving the race "as soon as possible." He says calling off the race was the best decision for the "current economic climate."
