Julian Dean Diary

No Tour de France.

No Tour de France <?xml:namespace prefix = o /?>

Hi all,

Well there?s good news and bad news...

I went to see the surgeon the other day and the good news is that my arm is healing well. He?s really pleased with the progress I have made but??.the bad news is that I can?t get back on the road until the start of July?.which means no Tour de France 2005 for me. Although the recovery is going well, the problem is that because there are so many screws so close together holding the bones together, if I ride on the road too soon, the vibration could cause further fractures. Basically it?s just not worth the risk. I have to wear the cast til the end of June and then go back for another check-up. Hopefully then I?ll get the all clear to start back on the road.

I?m bloody gutted about missing the 2005 Tour de France but as I?ve learnt over the years of injuries, you just have to move on and re-focus. I?ve decided I?m gonna come back with all guns blazing and the Vuelta and the Worlds are mine for the taking. I went to
<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 /?>
Madrid
the other day to check out the course for the Worlds and I was amped by what I saw. It?s a good course for me and if I can keep it together and get the kind of form I had at the Olympics last year, there?s no reason why I can?t get a good result there...

So for now, it?s just all about the trainer and the gym. My days seem long and full of rehab but that?s nothing new. I just keep thinking about

Madrid
and that seems to get me through the boredom of the going nowhere fast on the trainer.

Will keep you posted...
