Intxausti Takes Stage 16 of Giro d'Italia 2013
Movistar has won its third stage of this year's Giro d'Italia and its second consecutive stage. Benat Intxausti took a three-up sprint to win the 238-km, medium mountain stage from Valloire, France to Ivrea, Italy in 5:52:48. Tanel Kangert (Astana) finished second, and Przemyslaw Niemiec (Lampre-Merida) finished third. Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) remains the maglia rosa.
17 will not change this state of affairs. The flat, 214-km run from Caravaggio to Vicenza will have a Category 4 climb near the end, but it should not keep a sprinter from winning. Will Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) take his fifth win of this year's Giro? Check in at www.roadcycling.com and find out!
