Bradley Wiggins Wins Stage 19 Time Trial of 2012 Tour de France

Team Sky Procycling's Bradley Wiggins won the final individual time trial of the 2012 Tour de France earlier this afternoon, all but locking up the title of the three-week race.

Team Sky Procycling's Bradley Wiggins won the final individual time trial of the 2012 Tour de France earlier this afternoon, all but locking up the title of the three-week race.

The Sky team leader used his specialty to obliterate the pack in the 33-mile ride from Bonneval to Chartres. He's poised to become the first Briton to take home the yellow jersey and be crowned Tour de France Champion.

Wiggins punched the air when he crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 4 minutes, 13 seconds for his second stage win of this edition of the Tour de France. Wiggins' teammate Christopher Froome of Great Britain was second -- 1:16 behind. Luis Leon Sanchez of Spain and Team Rabobank was third, 1:50 back.

Overall, Wiggins has a 3:21 lead over Froome, who is second, and Italy's Vincenzo Nibali (Team Liquigas-Cannondale) is third, 6:19 back.

The race against the clock in stage 19 set up what is likely to be a largely ceremonial ride onto the Champs-Elysees in Paris for the finale of the three-week race on Sunday.
