2006 Tour de France Preview and Predictions
The 2006 Tour de France will be the first Tour of the post-Armstrong era.
in the mountains, and he might even snare a stage. Put him down for ninth.
George Hincapie (Discovery Channel) has expanded his ability as a cyclist. The American began his career as a sprinter, became enough of a rouleur to win classics such as Gent-Wevelgem, and developed his climbing ability enough to become one of Lance Armstrong?s mountain goats and to win Stage 15 of last year?s Tour de France. The circumstances that enabled Hincapie to win that stage will probably not be available for him to do so (at least in the same way) this year. Hincapie, however, will ride consistently and creditably in the mountains, and he will ride respectable time trials.
In other competitions, Tom Boonen (Quick Step) will win the green jersey, Iban Mayo (Euskaltel) will take the polka dot jersey, and Damiano Cunego (Lampre) will win the white jersey. Check in with http://www.roadcycling.com/ every day for cycling as it should be!
