Disillusioned Alberto Contador Holed Up in Luxury Hotel
A depressed Alberto Contador (Team Saxo Bank-SunGard) was holed up in a luxury Mallorca hotel on Thursday as the Tour de France champion set about coming to terms with a one-year ban for failing a doping test.
former team manager of Tour champions Bernard Hinault, Laurent Fignon and Lucien van Impe, was less sympathetic.
"He should be suspended for two or three years for telling a story nobody believed in," Guimard said on French radio RMC.
"If the suspension is confirmed, I hope he will have the decency not to appeal again and again. He should thank the Spanish federation."
