2009 Tour de France - Stage 1 time trial.

Happy Birthday America!

The Tour starts with a bang because he’s baaaaack! So is all the BS hype and controversy.

I’m kinda angry about today’s race. I watched for hours and not once did I see Massa’s Ferrari or Hamilton’s McLaren-Mercedes. There were a long line of guys riding bikes in spandex. What was that all about? Oh, I get it; the guys in spandex are qualifying for the grand prix.

Of course he’s a year older but he’s on the best team in professional cycling. Add the cunning of Directeur Sportif Bruyneel and you will produce a winner. But, who will that winner be? Which star will shine the brightest? Who will Levi work for? What about crashes? What about injuries? Someone could poke their eye out or even worse, break their collarbone! There are going to be two races the next three weeks. They are the Tour de France and the Team Astana Shootout. Blending former champions with another who wants to be a champion could burn out the mixer.

We know he wants to prove he has the ability to win once again. We know he has been training hard. We know the pressure to repeat will be a mental and physical challenge. I, for one, am glad he’s back. He’s my choice to be victorious overall. Join me in welcoming back Alberto Contador!

Also, please congratulate today’s stage winner Fabian Cancellara.
